Description
SS Officer’s Belt Buckle by ELJ – Emil Jüttner Ludenscheid. Excellent zinc-based example made circa 1943. This maker will was known for these late war SS officer buckles associated with the Waffen-SS. This maker is known for using poor quality zinc in the metal keepers that attached the buckle to the belt and they as a result often “exploded” or crumbled to pieces, and these buckles will be found with no keepers at times. This buckle was brought back by the vet this way and it can be seen that the SS officer had the same problem with the keeper exploding and fixed the issue himself in the field by making a keeper out of steel wire. A great example that saw action on the Western Front. LH7083
