SONDERVERBAND 287/288 Sleeve Shield.
Jäger Sonderverband 287, was one of three battalions in the regimental sized German-Arabian Legion and consisted of Arabian volunteers from North Africa. The unit was formed on August 4TH 1942 and fought in the North African campaign until it was disbanded in May 1943 following the capitulation of Tunis to the allies. Members of Sonderverband 288, which also consisted of Arabian volunteers also wore this insignia.
