Third Reich Era Army M35 camouflaged helmet.

Called "The first modern German helmet", M35 was made from molybdenum steel, expensive and high-strength alloy. That makes M35 variant helmets the most sought after in collecting community. This particular example was produced by E.T. - Eisenhüttenwerk Thale, in size 64. The helmet left the factory as a double decal one, but it looks like the tri-color shield was overpainted. Beautiful, brushed, field applied camouflage was carefully applied around the decal. Heer decal aged and toned nicely over the years, becoming almost golden in color. Probable scenario for the bullet damage is that a soldier was on the ground and was finished off with an angled shot. Bullet went through the head and was stopped by the helmet (judging by the damage to the steel and how it cracked). That would support the theory of a missing leather liner (bloodied and damaged). Aluminum liner band, rivets and felt cushion are present and are original to the helmet.

No matter what the scenario was, this is an amazing example which will display beautifully.
