Description

Robert J. Bostick WW1 and WW2 Aviator Grouping. Robert J. Bostick was from Syracuse, New York. His WW1 draft card shows him as an ROTC Lieutenant. It is likely that he went active duty after college and learned to fly. He received his wings and a WW1 Victory Medal. After the war he sold insurance and stayed in the AAF reserves and gained rank. He married Helen Bostick and they had one son, Richard Bostick, who was born in the mid to late 1920s. The elder Bostick was called to active duty when WW2 began. He was too old to fly and likely held some administrative job at an AAF base under the 2nd Air Force early on and then went overseas with the 8th Air Force. The younger Bostick was drafted and and served as an EM in the war- where and with whom is unknown. After the war the elder Bostick returned to Syracuse and his insurance business. He stayed in the reserves and retired a Lt. Colonel. and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse where his headstone reads, “Lt Col. USAF WWI and WWII”. Included are the father’s WW1 Dallas – style Wings, his WW2 Wings, his WW1 ID tags, the son’s WW2 ID tags and everything shown in the photos. A stellar grouping. LH11057
